Dead Leaf Echo will be headlining our RFB fundraiser on September 10th.
Radio Free Brooklyn is now in our third season – broadcasting 70 shows, 24 hours a day / 7 days a week – and have grown into a community of over 100 artists, musicians, and radio geeks. The Velo Brooklyn Bike Shop has, sadly, recently closed its doors, but the good news is that RFB has taken over their lease and have great plans for the space. We’ve recently partnered with Federico Rojas of Downtown 304 Records, who will be opening a vinyl record shop –Second Hand Records – in mid-September. In addition to new and used vinyl, the shop will feature a second RFB studio, where music DJ’s will be spinning vinyl live on the air in the storefront window. RFB will also be using the space to host monthly rent parties, with live acoustic performances by Brooklyn’s best bands.
All of these “leaps forward” are beyond exciting to us here at RFB, but the more we grow, the more expenses we have to cover to keep this train rolling. To that end, we’re puttin’ on a show! On September 10th, RFB will host it’s 3rd Benefit Rock Concert at Unit J Loft in Bushwick. We have 4 incredible bands lined up, including Brooklyn’s own Dead Leaf Echo, Falling Birds, Amos Rose, and Dru Cutler and the Heart & Hand Band. All the details are below, and we hope that those in the NYC area will come out and support!
