Hosted by Kinsound. On Far Reaches of Dub, Kinsound takes you on a journey through reggae & dub music from past to present and into the future. Eclectic selections highlight the influence of dub on genres as wide-ranging as jungle, hip-hop, punk, techno, and jazz, while remaining true to the roots with emphasis on the many subgenres of dub and reggae including roots, dancehall, rocksteady, digital, steppers, dub poetry, and regional styles from around the world. Episodes alternate on a weekly basis between music-only mixes and more talk-oriented discussion of the links between these genres.

Marcus Garvey's parting prophecy to the suffering Jamaican people when he left the island in 1920 may have been a major factor in the rise of Rastafarianism, as many believed the prophecy to have been fulfilled in 1930 when Ras Tafari Makonnen was crowned Emperor of Ethiopia. We discuss the beliefs, practices, and politics of Rastafarianism as well as the religion's major influence on reggae music.
